Cockpit is an interactive, web-based graphical interface for Linux servers. It is designed to be lightweight and easy to use, allowing system administrators to perform a wide range of server management tasks directly from a browser. Cockpit interacts with the operating system through a real Linux session, making it possible to manage containers, storage, network configuration, logs, and more. It seamlessly integrates with the terminal—services started via Cockpit can be stopped via the terminal, and errors from the terminal appear in Cockpit's journal interface. Users can also connect to multiple machines that have Cockpit installed over SSH and switch between them easily. Cockpit is available for most Linux distributions and is typically packaged as 'cockpit'. A Flatpak client is also available for SSH access.
