OpenAI o3-mini
FreePushing the frontier of cost-effective reasoning.
About OpenAI o3-mini
OpenAI o3-mini, released on January 31, 2025, is the newest and most cost-efficient reasoning model in OpenAI's reasoning series. It delivers exceptional STEM capabilities—particularly in science, math, and coding—while maintaining low cost and reduced latency compared to its predecessor o1-mini. Available in both ChatGPT and the API, o3-mini supports highly requested developer features such as function calling, Structured Outputs, developer messages, and streaming. Developers can choose from three reasoning effort options (low, medium, high) to optimize for speed or accuracy. It also works with search to provide up-to-date answers with web links. o3-mini replaces o1-mini in the model picker, offering tripled rate limits for Plus and Team users (150 messages per day) and is the first reasoning model made available to free ChatGPT users via the 'Reason' option. It does not support vision capabilities.
