LocalRAG! is a mobile AI application available for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices that enables users to chat with their documents, including PDFs, Office files, EPUBs, images, audio recordings, and videos, all processed on-device without requiring an internet connection. It employs a multi-step hybrid search with a built-in local large language model (Qwen3 4B) to find relevant passages, provide answers with source citations (such as page numbers or timestamps), and support natural language queries across multiple files in a single collection. Users benefit from enhanced privacy as no data is sent to the cloud by default, making it suitable for confidential documents like contracts or personal files.

The app supports 23 file formats, including automatic OCR for scanned documents and whiteboard photos, and features on-device transcription for audio (MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, FLAC) and video (MP4, MOV, M4V) using WhisperKit on iOS and whisper.cpp on Android, with AI cleanup for filler words. For higher accuracy, users can optionally switch to the Claude API. This offline-first approach allows professionals, researchers, and individuals to summarize reports, extract contract details, analyze research papers, or query meeting recordings efficiently on their mobile devices.
