About Buzz Captions
Buzz Captions is an offline audio transcription and translation tool powered by OpenAI's Whisper. It supports importing audio and video files, exporting transcripts to CSV, SRT, TXT, and VTT formats, and offers live transcription and translation from a computer's microphone. The tool works with multiple Whisper backends (Whisper, Whisper.cpp, Faster Whisper, Hugging Face models, and the OpenAI Whisper API) and handles over 90 languages for both X-audio-to-English-text and X-audio-to-X-text transcriptions. It is free and open-source on GitHub, with versions for Windows, Linux, and macOS (Intel) and a separate macOS native app.
