About UpscaleVideo.ai

UpscaleVideo.ai is a free and open-source desktop application for Windows and macOS that uses AI to resize, sharpen, and de-noise videos and photos. It supports batch processing with drag-and-drop, can increase video resolution by 2x (e.g., 1080p→4K, 4K→8K, 8K→16K), and handles very high resolutions like 16K ProRes output. The tool accepts common input formats (MP4, MOV, MKV, PNG, JPG, GIF) and encodes output as H.264, H.265, ProRes, or 16-bit PNG sequences, with 10-bit color depth support on Windows and Mac. It features content-adaptive de-noising, de-blurring, sharpening, reduction of aliasing and compression artifacts, and a bilateral filter for grainy photos. Originally developed by Lifecast Inc., the software is now freely available with installers for Windows and Mac, and source code that can be compiled on Linux.
