    We are excited to announce the winners of our DEV Weekend Challenge: Passion Edition!

    The prompt was simple and wide open: build something inspired by passion. You gave us rivalries, obsessions, fandoms, late-night side projects, and love letters to the things you cannot stop thinking about, and you built all of it inside a single weekend.

    Thank you to everyone who submitted. These projects were a joy to work through, and choosing five winners out of this pool was genuinely difficult.

    Now, let's celebrate our winners!

    🎉 Congratulations To…

    Overall Winner

    {% embed https://dev.to/gracelee087/myeongdong-3d-i-built-a-talking-3d-copy-of-my-favourite-seoul-district-50ip %}

    @gracelee087 built Myeongdong 3D, a GPS walking audio guide to Seoul's most-loved district, set inside a hand-built 3D copy of the real place. Seoul has no public photorealistic 3D data, so they extruded 3,535 real OpenStreetMap building footprints in Three.js at true metre scale and routed the walk over the actual street graph, with live Seoul weather and sun position. Their guide is named Tobaggi, the Korean word for someone born and raised in a neighbourhood who never left, and that is the whole spirit of this one.

    Best Use of Snowflake

    {% embed https://dev.to/soumyadeepdey/we-taught-a-snowflake-warehouse-to-judge-world-cup-conviction-and-write-the-verdict-back-to-solana-305i %}

    @soumyadeepdey and @dronzer2code built FERVOR, a conviction oracle for World Cup fandom that refuses to measure hype, because following a crowd is cheap. It measures the wallet that keeps buying its country's token while the price bleeds, and Snowflake does the work a blockchain cannot do about its own history: a seven-table Dynamic Tables DAG at one-minute lag, Cortex models retraining every five minutes, and an eight-tab dashboard running as Streamlit inside the warehouse. Every five minutes the computed index is signed and written back to Solana as a confirmed transaction, which means Snowflake output ends up living on a block explorer.

    {% endcard %}

    Best Use of Solana

    {% embed https://dev.to/msadlok/stellamint-a-message-to-the-stars-and-proof-of-the-night-you-looked-up-109p %}

    @msadlok built Stellamint, an app about the oldest passion we have: looking up and wondering if anyone is looking back. Write a message to a real exoplanet and watch how many years it will travel at lightspeed, or mark the celestial event overhead right now and mint a proof of the moment. Every message and proof is a Solana asset with no database anywhere in the project, so your wallet's on-chain assets are the collection and the sky map is rendered purely by reading them back.

    {% endcard %}

    Best Use of ElevenLabs

    {% embed https://dev.to/iclaldogan/echolalia-a-haunted-desktop-where-two-ai-voices-finish-writing-you-5hhk %}

    @iclaldogan built ECHOLALIA, a psychological horror art simulation staged as a haunted desktop at 3:33 AM, where two AI voices start your manuscript for you and slowly take the keyboard away. ElevenLabs is why it demands headphones: CRITIC and MUSE are panned hard left and right so the argument physically happens on either side of your head and the Sound Effects API conjures the noises your own sentences describe. Bring headphones and answer honestly.

    {% endcard %}

    Best Use of Google AI

    {% embed https://dev.to/jonathansolvesstuff/passion-is-the-one-thing-you-are-not-supposed-to-be-able-to-fake-so-i-built-a-machine-that-5e58 %}

    @jonathansolvesstuff built Pick Your Side, for everyone who watched the World Cup without a team: name any two nations and it reads their real history, picks the side you were always meant to love, and a stadium announcer swears you in. Manufactured passion only works if the thing it is built out of is true, so Gemini never works from memory. One call runs grounded in Google Search to establish checkable facts, a second writes the case using only those facts, and the app shows you every search it ran and every page it read.

    {% endcard %}

    Prizes

    All five winners will receive:

    • $200 USD
