Anthropic Releases 10 Finance Agent Templates
Anthropic announced ten agent templates designed for common financial services tasks on May 5, 2026. These templates target time-intensive activities such as preparing pitchbooks, reviewing KYC files, and handling month-end book closes. Teams can deploy them quickly as plugins in Claude Cowork and Claude Code or as cookbooks for Claude Managed Agents, shifting from months to days for implementation.
Claude now integrates with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook through add-ins for Microsoft 365. Context flows seamlessly between apps after installation, allowing work begun in one tool to continue in another without repeating details.
The company also expanded its partner network with new connectors and an MCP app. These provide Claude with secure, real-time data access from existing financial tools. Connectors offer controlled entry to provider data, while MCP apps integrate provider tools directly into Claude.
These features work best with Claude Opus 4.7, which excels in financial tasks and scores 64.37% on Vals AI's Finance Agent benchmark, leading the field.
Details on New Agent Templates
Each template includes skills with task instructions and domain knowledge, connectors for data access, and subagents for subtasks like selecting comparables or checking methods. Firms can customize them to fit their modeling standards, risk rules, and approval processes.
Activate templates as plugins in Claude Cowork or Claude Code, or as cookbooks for Claude Managed Agents. Access them via the financial services marketplace.
The agents cover these areas:
Research and client coverage:
- Pitch builder generates target lists, performs comparables analysis, and drafts pitchbooks for meetings.
- Meeting preparer compiles briefs on clients and counterparties before calls.
- Earnings reviewer analyzes transcripts and filings, updates models, and highlights changes relevant to investment theses.
- Model builder constructs and updates financial models using filings, data feeds, and analyst inputs.
- Market researcher monitors sector and issuer news, combines filings, news, and broker research, and identifies items for credit and risk checks.
Finance and operations:
- Valuation reviewer verifies valuations against comparables, methods, and firm standards.
- General ledger reconciler matches accounts and computes net asset values against records.
- Month-end closer executes checklists, prepares journal entries, and generates reports.
- Statement auditor examines statements for consistency, completeness, and readiness for audits.
- KYC screener gathers entity files, checks documents, and prepares compliance escalations.
Deploy as plugins in Claude Cowork or Claude Code to assist analysts using desktop tools. For example, give the Pitch agent a target list to produce an Excel comps model, PowerPoint pitchbook, and Outlook cover note.
As Claude Managed Agents on the Claude Platform, they run independently for large-scale tasks like deal books or nightly runs. Cookbooks include long sessions, tool permissions, credential vaults, and audit logs in the Claude Console for compliance reviews.
Users always review, edit, and approve outputs before client use, filing, or action.
Integration Across Microsoft Applications
Claude operates inside Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook via add-ins. In Outlook, it sorts emails, schedules meetings, and writes responses in the user's style. Excel handles model building from filings and feeds, formula audits across workbooks, and sensitivity tests. PowerPoint creates decks that update with data changes. Word edits memos to firm templates. Context persists across apps, so Excel model details carry to PowerPoint without repetition.
In Claude Cowork, assign tasks via text or voice using Dispatch. Claude processes local files while users are away, delivering results for review.
