AWS Transform Automates BI Migration to Amazon Quick in Days
Organizations can now migrate business intelligence dashboards to Amazon QuickSight much faster with AWS Transform. Instead of rebuilding from the ground up, which could take months for hundreds of dashboards, the process completes in days. Dashboards hold valuable knowledge like custom calculations, layouts, and security settings built over time.
Costs of Sticking with Legacy BI Tools
Legacy BI systems create ongoing issues beyond license costs. Teams spend time on server maintenance, patching, scaling, and monitoring instead of analysis. Amazon QuickSight runs serverless and managed, eliminating capacity planning and downtime.
Traditional tools need custom work for AI features. Amazon QuickSight has built-in AI for natural language questions and dashboard workflow automation. Analysts face delays from provisioning, extract management, and performance fixes. QuickSight's SPICE engine offers sub-second queries at scale. It also supports embedding dashboards in applications via APIs.
AWS Transform Handles BI Modernization
AWS Transform uses agentic AI to speed up modernization. Companies already apply it for mainframe apps, Windows and SQL Server workloads, VMware migrations, and custom apps. Now it covers BI shifts. Wavicle Data Solutions, an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner, adds EZConvertBI agents to AWS Transform. These bring expertise in Tableau and Power BI migrations.
Two-Step Chat-Based Migration
In AWS Transform, users create a workspace and run jobs via chat. Wavicle offers four agents on AWS Marketplace: one Analyzer and one Converter for Power BI and Tableau each.
The agents provide a guided, AWS-based experience. All runs in the user's AWS account. No data leaves the environment, no extra tools needed, no external transfers. This cuts security and buying delays.
The process has two steps for any source. First, Analyze: the agent connects to the BI setup, pulls metadata only, lists dashboards, datasets, calculations, dependencies. It creates a readiness report with compatibility details on clean conversions and issues.
Second, Convert: select dashboards, run the job. The Converter recreates in Amazon QuickSight: datasets, calculated fields at dataset and analysis levels, visuals, charts, filters, parameters. It keeps years of analytical work intact.
Agents rely on Amazon Bedrock for AI power. Amazon Bedrock AgentCore manages secure runtime, credentials via workload identities, IAM access. Wavicle encodes its BI migration know-how into the agents.
Key AWS Services in the Architecture
The setup uses AWS-native components. AWS Transform acts as the workbench with agent orchestration, chat via Amazon Bedrock, job management, team coordination.

Amazon Bedrock AgentCore handles agent runtime, credentials, IAM controls. Amazon QuickSight serves as the target with serverless scale, SPICE performance, AWS data ties. Amazon S3 stores reports and artifacts for audits.
Complete Migration Steps
Step 1: Prep source BI. For Power BI, set workspace access and service principal auth for metadata read. See Power BI Prerequisites. For Tableau, turn on Metadata API, create Personal Access Token. See Tableau Prerequisites.
Step 2: Set up AWS Transform, subscribe via Marketplace. It orchestrates with parallel tasks for hundreds of dashboards.
Step 3: Analyze dashboards. Use Power BI or Tableau Analyzer demos. Report covers data sources, calculations, rules, dependencies for planning.
Step 4: Convert dashboards. Use Converter demos. It rebuilds datasets, fields, visuals, filters. Monitor in chat, get QuickSight assets for validation.
Post-Migration: Governance and Validation
Agents deliver QuickSight datasets, analyses, fields, visuals, controls, parameters. Teams handle governance, checks, publishing.
Admins assign ownership, set permissions, row-level security, sharing. Source auth like Active Directory or service principals do not transfer automatically.
Authors validate: compare metrics, test interactions, layouts, access. Confirm substance matches.
Then publish: set sharing, subscriptions, embedding. Use QuickSight APIs for scale. Archive sources.
Live dashboards enable natural language queries, analysis across sources, actions from dashboards.
Starting the Process
AWS Transform offers a repeatable path for any size migration, from 10 to 10,000 dashboards.
