Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?+
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device — there is zero server-side processing.
What metadata is removed?+
Everything: EXIF data (camera make/model, settings), GPS location coordinates, date/time stamps, software information, IPTC captions, XMP data, ICC color profiles, and any other embedded metadata. The output is a clean image with only pixel data.
Will this affect image quality?+
PNG output is lossless — identical quality. JPEG and WebP use quality settings (default 92%) which may introduce minor compression. For photos, the difference is imperceptible. For pixel-perfect graphics, use PNG.
Why should I remove image metadata?+
Images from phones and cameras often contain GPS coordinates, device serial numbers, and timestamps. Removing this data protects your privacy before sharing images online, in documents, or on social media.
Does this remove AI watermarks like SynthID?+
This tool removes standard metadata (EXIF, XMP, IPTC). Some AI watermarks like SynthID are embedded at the pixel level and may not be fully removed by metadata stripping. This tool is designed for legitimate privacy and image preparation use cases.
