Parse Invoices & Documents with Gemini AI, OCR & Google Sheets

This n8n workflow intelligently parses various document types including invoices, sensor logs, and structured PDFs or images—even scanned ones or CSVs. It starts with a webhook trigger that receives file uploads, then uses a switch node to route based on file type: Tesseract OCR for images, PDF parsing for documents, or direct extraction for CSVs. The extracted text is fed into Google Gemini AI (or Flash model) with a custom prompt to pull out critical fields like invoice ID, dates, totals, customer/vendor names, subtotals, taxes, and currency.

The AI outputs structured JSON, which is cleaned and parsed before being appended or updated in a Google Sheets spreadsheet. This eliminates manual data entry, reduces errors, and scales for high-volume processing.
