Sync Members & Activities from Google Sheets to Orbit

This workflow streamlines data synchronization between Google Sheets and the Orbit platform, ideal for community managers tracking member metrics. It begins by retrieving member data (including GitHub usernames, names, t-shirt sizes, locations, and tags) from a Google Sheet. This data is then used to upsert members into Orbit workspace ID 543, ensuring accurate identity matching via GitHub usernames.

Next, it performs a lookup in the Activities sheet of the same Google Sheet to fetch relevant activities for each member based on their GitHub username. Simultaneously, it retrieves all existing members from Orbit to enable merging. The Merge node combines incoming activity data with Orbit member data using GitHub username (propertyName1) and attributes.slug (propertyName2), preventing duplicates and ensuring data integrity.

Finally, the workflow adds these activities to Orbit, keeping community metrics up-to-date. Benefits include time savings on manual data entry, reduced errors in member tracking, and seamless integration for GitHub-linked communities. Use cases: Automating contributor onboarding, activity logging for open-source projects, or maintaining engagement dashboards in Orbit.
