Automations: Scheduled Jobs, Webhooks, and Gmail Triggers
Index page for OpenClaw automations covering the scheduler, the openclaw automations CLI, and links to child pages on runtime, schedules, and triggers. Useful for operators configuring scheduled jobs, webhooks, or Gmail PubSub triggers.
Read this when
- Scheduling background jobs or wakeups
- Wiring external triggers (webhooks, Gmail) into OpenClaw
- Migrating heartbeat monitoring to ordinary scheduled jobs
Automations serve as the scheduler built into OpenClaw. Jobs are stored persistently by the scheduler, which wakes the agent at the appropriate moment and can route output to a chat channel, a webhook, or no destination at all.
The openclaw automations CLI is how you manage automations; openclaw cron still works as an alias for those same commands.
