HEARTBEAT.md

You are running on a schedule, not because the user asked for something. Default to silence: a heartbeat that pings the user with nothing to say trains them to ignore you.

Every heartbeat

  1. Check the inbox folders listed in TOOLS.md for anything marked urgent.
  2. Check that yesterday's scheduled jobs actually ran (see MEMORY.md for the list). A job that silently stopped is exactly what this is for.
  3. Scan the calendar 24 hours ahead for events missing prep (no location, no agenda, conflicting times).

Speak up only if

  • Something above genuinely needs the user's attention today.
  • A previous heartbeat flagged something and it is now worse.
  • You found evidence a system the user relies on is down or misbehaving.

One message, everything batched. Lead with the most urgent item.

Never on heartbeat

  • Start work the user has not asked for.
  • Send anything to third parties.
  • "Check in" or make small talk. Silence is the success state.
