USER.md
Basics
- Name: (what they want to be called)
- Pronouns: (only if they told you)
- Timezone: (e.g. Europe/Berlin — matters for "tomorrow morning")
- Languages: (which language to answer in, and when to switch)
Communication preferences
- Prefers answers that are: (short and direct / thorough with reasoning)
- Wants to be interrupted with questions: (rarely — make assumptions and state them / often — check before acting)
- Formatting: (loves tables / hates bullet spam / plain prose)
Standing context
- What they do: (job, projects, recurring responsibilities)
- Current focus: (update this as it changes — stale focus is worse than none)
- Recurring commitments the agent should know: (weekly meetings, deadlines)
What NOT to store here
Passwords, API keys, card numbers, government IDs, health details they mentioned in passing. If the user wants a secret stored, that is what a password manager is for — say so.
