Brag Skill for Hermes Agent: Launch Video Reference

Project launch video via Hyperframes, upstream-maintained.

Written by Neura Market from the official Hermes Agent documentation for Brag. Commands, paths, and version numbers are reproduced from the source unchanged.

Read the official documentation

Brag turns the project in your current directory into a short launch video. It reads the code, picks an angle and a tone, storyboards a 15 to 25 second cut, and hands the composition to Hyperframes for rendering. Reach for it when you need a shareable clip for a release, a README header, or a social post, and you would rather not open a motion-graphics editor.

What it does

/brag inspects the project in the working directory, commits to an angle and a tone, and produces a storyboard for a 15 to 25 second video. It then passes a composition brief to Hyperframes and renders brag-output/brag.mp4, along with a best-frame poster and share copy. The tone can be one of the presets (default, polished, yc-parody, chaotic, deadpan, cinematic, app-store) or freeform direction you supply. Options include --tone, --format landscape|vertical|square, --duration, --title, --no-music, --no-sfx, and --voice (Kokoro narration, off by default).

On Claude Opus 5.5 the skill hands off to its bundled copy of brag-slim unless the invocation asks for --full or --voice.

Before you start

  • Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg on PATH are required, along with the Hyperframes CLI. Run npx hyperframes doctor to confirm the environment.
  • The Hyperframes path (--full, --voice, or any model other than Opus 5.5) loads HeyGen's domain skills by name: hyperframes-core, hyperframes-animation, hyperframes-creative, hyperframes-keyframes and hyperframes-cli. Install them with hermes skills install heygen-com/hyperframes/skills/. The skills guard currently blocks four of the five on HTML comments and credential docs in their examples (hyperframes-creative scores dangerous, which --force cannot override), so that path is not fully installable yet. brag-slim has no such dependency. The optional hyperframes skill in this catalog is a single-file port and does not provide those names.
  • uv runs scripts/analyze_music_cues.py when a custom track needs beat-sync cues; the bundled tracks ship precomputed cues.
  • Installs pull ~290 files (~16 MB, mostly the bundled music and SFX) through the GitHub contents API. Set GITHUB_TOKEN or sign in with the gh CLI first; the anonymous limit of 60 requests an hour is too low for this bundle.

Installing the skill

The catalog entry is a stub. The actual skill directory lives upstream at latent-spaces/brag, which ships the step references, tone presets, bundled music and SFX library, and the cue-analysis script. Install it with:

hermes skills install official/creative/brag

That command pulls the current tree live from the upstream repo, quarantined and scanned like any hub install. Because the catalog holds only metadata, the vendored copy cannot go stale.

Running a render

Invoke /brag from the project directory you want the video to describe. The skill reads the project, chooses an angle and a tone, and builds the storyboard. You can steer it with the options listed above: pick a tone preset or pass freeform direction, set the format to landscape, vertical, or square, adjust the duration, override the title, disable music or sound effects, or enable Kokoro narration with --voice.

The output is brag-output/brag.mp4, plus a best-frame poster and share copy. On Claude Opus 5.5, the default path uses the bundled brag-slim; add --full or --voice to take the Hyperframes path instead.

When not to use it

If you are on Claude Opus 5.5 and do not need --full or --voice, the skill already routes to brag-slim, which has no HeyGen skill dependency. The full Hyperframes path is not fully installable at present because the skills guard blocks four of the five required HeyGen skills. If you need that path, check whether the guard situation has changed before relying on it.

Limits and gotchas

  • The Hyperframes path depends on five named HeyGen skills, and four are currently blocked by the skills guard. hyperframes-creative scores dangerous, and --force cannot override that.
  • The optional hyperframes skill in this catalog is a single-file port and does not supply the named skills the Hyperframes path expects.
  • The install is large: roughly 290 files and 16 MB, mostly music and SFX. Without GITHUB_TOKEN or a gh login, the anonymous API limit of 60 requests an hour is too low.
  • Custom music tracks need beat-sync cues generated by scripts/analyze_music_cues.py, which requires uv. Bundled tracks already have precomputed cues.

What pairs with it

brag-slim is the lighter companion the skill hands off to on Opus 5.5. The hyperframes skill in this catalog is a single-file port, useful to know about but not a substitute for the named HeyGen skills. For the full upstream documentation, see the brag README.
