Impeccable Skill for Hermes Agent: Frontend Design Guide

Frontend design guidance, upstream-maintained (impeccable).

Written by Neura Market from the official Hermes Agent documentation for Impeccable. Commands, paths, and version numbers are reproduced from the source unchanged.

Impeccable is an optional Hermes Agent skill that gives the agent a working design language for frontend work. It bundles 23 sub-commands, a set of explicit anti-pattern rules, and a deterministic detector CLI that runs without an LLM or API key. Reach for it when you are generating or reviewing UI and want the agent to produce something that looks deliberate rather than generic.

What it does

The skill covers the full arc of a frontend task. You can start a project, shape a concept, craft an implementation, critique what exists, audit it against rules, and then polish, harden, or optimize. The sub-commands are grouped by intent: init, craft, shape, critique, audit, polish, bolder, quieter, distill, harden, onboard, animate, colorize, typeset, layout, delight, overdrive, clarify, adapt, optimize, extract, document, and live.

Alongside the commands, Impeccable ships anti-pattern guidance. The source names overused fonts, purple gradients, nested cards, and bounce easing as examples of what to avoid. That guidance is what separates this from a generic design prompt: the agent has a specific list of things not to do, not just a vague instruction to make it look good.

The detector is the part you can run outside the agent. npx impeccable detect is a 61-rule deterministic CLI. It needs no LLM and no API key, so it works in CI, in a pre-commit hook, or on a machine where you have not configured any model access.

Before you start

This is an optional skill, installed on demand rather than shipped by default. The catalog entry is a stub: the actual bundle lives upstream at pbakaus/impeccable, and the project ships and verifies a Hermes-native skill bundle under .hermes/skills/. Installing pulls the current bundle live from that repo, quarantined and scanned like any hub install. The local directory holds only catalog metadata, which is why the vendored copy cannot go stale.

Metadata for the skill: version 4.1.2, author Paul Bakaus (pbakaus), Apache-2.0 license, and support for linux, macos, and windows. The detector runs through npx, so you need a working Node.js toolchain for that part.

Install it with:

hermes skills install impeccable

Getting started

After install, start with:

/impeccable init

That is the entry point the source gives. From there the other sub-commands are available for the specific stage of work you are in.

When not to use it

If you want a general design skill rather than this specific language, the related skills are claude-design and popular-web-designs. Those are the alternatives the source points to. Impeccable is opinionated: it has a defined set of anti-patterns and a fixed command surface, so if you disagree with its taste or need something broader, one of the related skills is the better fit.

Limits and gotchas

The catalog entry here is a stub by design. The real bundle is upstream, and hermes skills install impeccable fetches it live. Do not expect the local directory to contain the skill files themselves.

The detector is deterministic and rule-based, which means it checks for the 61 rules it knows about. It is not a substitute for the agent-driven sub-commands when you need judgment rather than rule matching.

What pairs with it
