What This Skill Does
Scans text for AI writing patterns like puffery, chatbot artifacts, and filler phrases, then auto-replaces them with natural alternatives. Provides both analysis reports and automated cleanup via Python scripts.
Replaces manual editing of AI-generated text by detecting and fixing common AI-isms in bulk.
When to Use It
- Analyze a blog post for AI vocabulary before publishing
- Batch-process multiple markdown files to remove chatbot artifacts
- Auto-replace filler phrases like 'in order to' with 'to' in a document

humanize.py — Auto-Replace Patterns
Performs automatic replacements for common AI-isms.
# Humanize and print to stdout

# Quiet mode (no change log)

What it fixes automatically:
- Filler phrases: "in order to" → "to", "due to the fact that" → "because"
- Copula avoidance: "serves as" → "is", "boasts" → "has"
- Sentence starters: removes "Additionally,", "Furthermore,", "Moreover,"
- Curly quotes → straight quotes
- Chatbot artifacts: removes "I hope this helps", "Let me know if", etc.
Workflow

Analyze first to see what needs fixing:

Auto-fix safe replacements:
python scripts/humanize.py document.txt -o document_clean.txt -
Manual review for AI vocabulary and puffery flagged by analyze (these require human judgment)

Customizing Patterns
Edit scripts/patterns.json to add/remove:
ai_words— vocabulary that flags but doesn't auto-replacepuffery— promotional language to flagreplacements— phrase → replacement mappings (empty string = delete)chatbot_artifacts— phrases to auto-removehedging_phrases— excessive hedging to flag
