What This Skill Does
Managed OAuth proxy to the Todoist API v1 for creating, updating, completing, and organizing tasks, projects, sections, labels, and comments. Requires a Maton API key and one-time OAuth connection setup.
Replaces building custom Todoist OAuth flows and managing API tokens by providing a secure, managed proxy that handles authentication automatically.
When to Use It
- Create a new task with due date and priority in a specific project
- Mark a task as completed and move it to the done list
- List all tasks due today across all projects
- Add a comment to an existing task for collaboration
- Rename or reorganize a project and its sections
- Retrieve all active labels to filter tasks by category

Base URL

Maton proxies requests to api.todoist.com/api/v1 and automatically injects your OAuth token.
Authentication
All requests require the Maton API key in the Authorization header:
Authorization: Bearer $MATON_API_KEY
Environment Variable: Set your API key as MATON_API_KEY:

Specifying Connection
If you have multiple Todoist connections, specify which one to use with the Maton-Connection header:

If you have multiple connections, always include this header to ensure requests go to the intended account.
Security & Permissions
- Access is scoped to tasks, projects, sections, labels, and comments within the connected Todoist account.
- All write operations require explicit user approval. Before executing any create, update, or delete call, confirm the target resource and intended effect with the user.

Notes
- Task IDs and Project IDs are strings, not integers
- Priority 4 is the highest (urgent), priority 1 is normal
- Use only one due date format per request (due_string, due_date, or due_datetime)
- Closing a recurring task schedules the next occurrence
- The Inbox project cannot be deleted
- IMPORTANT: When piping curl output to
jqor other commands, environment variables like$MATON_API_KEYmay not expand correctly in some shell environments
