What This Skill Does

REST API client for managing Proxmox VE clusters, VMs, LXC containers, snapshots, storage, backups, and tasks via curl commands. Requires an API token or credentials file for authentication.

Replaces manual Proxmox web UI navigation by exposing all cluster management operations through a single API-driven CLI.

When to Use It

  • List all VMs and LXC containers across a Proxmox cluster
  • Start, stop, or restart a specific VM or container
  • Create and manage VM snapshots before system updates
  • Check node status and resource usage (CPU, memory)
  • View recent cluster tasks and task logs for troubleshooting
  • Trigger on-demand backups of VMs to a specified storage

Configuration

Set environment variables or store in ~/.proxmox-credentials:

Notes

  • Replace {node}, {vmid}, {storage}, {snapname} with actual values
  • API tokens don't need CSRF tokens for POST/PUT/DELETE
  • Use -k to skip SSL verification for self-signed certs
  • Task operations return UPID for tracking async jobs
