    About This Role

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

Waymo's Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams are making the technology of the future a reality. We handle all production processes and supplier development strategies: from contracts and purchasing, to designs for improved manufacturing, through quality control and delivery. We collaborate actively with Waymo engineering teams as well as external suppliers and partners to make sure everything is built to spec and delivered on time to meet the rising demands of our business.

This role follows an onsite work schedule and you will report to a Head of Silicon & Compute Sourcing

    You will:

    • Monitor and track EE BOMs to drive part consolidation and proactively prepare for component obsolescence
    • Navigate component specifications with ease to provide detailed proposals for alternates, acting as an advocate for both the Engineering and Commercial teams to make the best holistic decisions for the company
    • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Design to ensure PLM systems accurately reflect primary and alternate components
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for engineers and suppliers regarding Product Change Notifications (PCNs) and component qualification
    • Support both New Product Introduction (NPI) and production programs, leveraging automation to establish and enable best practices
    • Assist in manufacturing and field failure analysis at the component level

    You have:

    • A BS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or equivalent) paired with 5+ years of component or manufacturing engineering experience within multinational teams
    • A deep understanding of the current semiconductor market, supply chains, and the operational acumen required to navigate the realities of qualifying products and BOMs
    • High proficiency in reading and interpreting electronic datasheets, errata, specifications, and part change notifications
    • Hands-on experience working with PLM systems and implementing automation into workflows
    • A fundamental understanding of electronic design, manufacturing workflows, and core engineering principles
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate professionally and effectively bridge technical and business goals

    We prefer:

    • 5+ years of targeted experience as a component or manufacturing engineer working on high-volume products
    • Familiarity with automotive compliance standards and documentation (AEC-Q, PPAP, etc.)
    • Working knowledge of Cadence and Altium ECAD tools and development flows
    • Direct experience utilizing Enovia PLM
    • Previous hands-on background working as an EE board designer
