What This Skill Does
REST API client for Home Assistant that controls smart home devices, runs automations, and receives webhook events. Supports lights, switches, climate, scenes, scripts, and any HA entity through curl commands with a long-lived access token.
Replaces manually toggling devices in the Home Assistant dashboard or writing custom integration scripts by exposing all HA services through a simple CLI with bidirectional communication.
When to Use It
- Turn on lights and set brightness from a script or automation
- Trigger a goodnight scene or script when leaving the house
- Query the current state of a thermostat or sensor
- Activate a motion-triggered automation from an external event
- Open or close a garage door via a scheduled task
- Receive webhook notifications when a motion sensor is triggered

Setup
Option 1: Config File (Recommended)
Create ~/.config/home-assistant/config.json:

Getting a Long-Lived Access Token
- Open Home Assistant → Profile (bottom left)
- Scroll to "Long-Lived Access Tokens"
- Click "Create Token", name it (e.g., "Clawdbot")
- Copy the token immediately (shown only once)

Inbound Webhooks (HA → Clawdbot)
To receive events from Home Assistant automations:
1. Create HA Automation with Webhook Action

3. Handle in Clawdbot
Clawdbot receives the webhook and can notify you or take action based on the event.

Troubleshooting
- 401 Unauthorized: Token expired or invalid. Generate a new one.
- Connection refused: Check HA_URL, ensure HA is running and accessible.
- Entity not found: List entities to find the correct entity_id.
